ThinkREG Event Registration
Changes October 23, 2026

This release brings a new Badge Designer: badges are now laid out by dragging text, barcodes, images and shapes onto the badge, and names can sit in text boxes that wrap or shrink to fit. The Attendee App can show each attendee their own badge QR code, carry your announcements, and keep working when the venue WiFi drops. For onsite teams there are Scanning Only groups for temporary staff, an Access Ends time on any group, and several check-in scanner improvements. We have also added a self-serve report builder for you to try, and fixed sending from your own domain so mail passes DMARC checks.

  • Badges
    • New: Badge Designer. Every badge template has a new first tab where you build the badge by drag and drop: add Text, Barcode, Image, Rectangle, Color Bar and NFC/UHF elements from the palette, then move, snap and nudge them into place. Elements sit on layers 0–10 that you can reorder, with undo/redo and a Preview PDF button. What you see is where it prints
    • Text boxes: draw a box for a name or company and choose Wrap, Shrink to fit, or Wrap then shrink. Long text stays inside the box instead of running into the next element, and a single long word shrinks rather than being split. Boxes resize from any corner or edge. Two text boxes on the same layer can’t overlap
    • New Barcode element. It uses your event’s scanner barcode format by default (shown as “Event Default” with the format named), or you can pick another format and which ID it encodes. Existing barcodes keep printing exactly as before and can be converted in the designer
    • Badge Size pull-down on Edit Badge Template and in the designer, listing standard badge sizes
    • Image elements have an Upload image button (PNG, JPG, GIF or PDF). Uploading again replaces the picture
    • Badge backgrounds are now an image on the bottom layer (layer 0), so the Background field has been removed from Edit Badge Template. A badge that already has a background keeps printing it; the template page shows its address with a Remove box for once you have re-added it as an image
    • The badge links on the badge list, Manage Forms and the registrant pages open the Badge Designer. Saving Edit Badge Template returns you to the same badge
    • A saved badge report now downloads under the report’s own name, for example sponsor_badgeReport.pdf
  • Attendee App
    • New: My Badge. Each attendee can show their own badge QR code from the app, after the usual one-time code check
    • New: Announcements. Post short plain-text notices for attendees and they appear newest first on the app’s home page. They show in the app only; nothing is sent to phones
    • Attendees can add the app to their phone’s home screen. You can set the name shown under the icon and the colour of the phone’s status bar. The offer to add it is optional and can be dismissed
    • Pages an attendee has already opened, their badge included, keep working if the venue WiFi drops. Logging out clears them from the phone
    • There is still nothing to install from an app store, so the app works on corporate and government phones that block app installs
  • Onsite check-in scanner
    • The newest row under Recent check-ins lists the attendee’s guests, each with Check in / Un-check in. Use it to un-check a guest who isn’t actually here, or to check guests in one at a time
    • A check-in you undid can be checked back in from its row, without the badge in hand. It doesn’t print another badge; Reprint is right beside it if you need one
    • A “type the ID” box under the camera, for a QR code that won’t read
    • Each row under Recent check-ins shows the registration ID and any third-party registration ID under the name
  • Groups & access
    • New: Scanning Only groups, for temporary onsite staff. Set Group Type to Scanning Only (Check-in, Sessions, or both) and choose the group’s events. Its users can open only the check-in and/or session scanners for those events, with Reprint and Undo, and are taken straight to their scanner when they sign in
    • New: Access Ends, on any group, in the time zone you choose. After that time the group’s users can’t sign in, and anyone still signed in is signed out automatically. The scanner pages sign themselves out on time
    • A group limited to Selected Events can now open only those events, including by typing an event’s address. Changes to a group’s events take effect at its users’ next sign-in
    • On the group pages, the Selected Events list can be filtered by “Starts on or after” and “Ends on or before” dates as well as by name, and My Groups shows each event’s dates
    • New: Dashboard Access on each group (None, Counts, Financials, or both; Counts by default). It decides who sees the dashboard and whether it shows money, so you can share check-in counts without the financials. A user with Counts access can now open the mobile dashboard too
    • A group that still has active users can’t be deleted; you are told to move them first. Previously they were moved to your default group without warning
    • Your users list has a filter box (username, name or email). After saving a user, the message says whether the onboarding or password reset email was sent, or that it couldn’t be. A stray space after an email address no longer stops the save
    • Fixed: with two-factor sign-in required, turning it on could send you straight back to the same page. You now land on your home page
  • Dashboards
    • Edit Dashboard has Show Counts and Show Financials switches. New dashboards show counts and hide financials; with both off the dashboard just lists the forms
    • The Checked-In by Hour panel on the mobile dashboards shows before the first check-in (“No check-ins yet.”) instead of disappearing, and now also appears on the dashboard opened with the 6-digit code
    • Custom Employee Event dashboards show a Total / Employee / Spouse / Children table of Registered, Checked In and Percent, on the desktop and both mobile dashboards. Their breakdown report is also faster
  • Reports
    • New (experimental): a self-serve report builder, under Reports > experimental (new). Pick any data point (profile, registration, housing, sessions and every form question), then rename, reorder and total columns, sort on several levels, filter (including “1 AND (2 OR 3)” style rules), and add your own columns that categorise, combine or group times. Export to CSV or Excel. Saved reports are kept in the browser you made them in for now. We’d love your feedback on it
  • Email
    • Adding a domain (rather than a single address) under your email addresses now works properly. The domain’s page lists the three DNS records for your IT team to add, with a block you can copy and paste to them, and shows whether each one is verified. Once they are, mail is signed as your domain, so it passes DMARC checks instead of being quarantined. If you added a domain before this release, click its resend icon on the email list to create its records
    • The add link and form now say “email or domain”, and the page explains the difference
    • Fixed: the logo and open tracking in invitation and blast emails didn’t load, so opens weren’t counted. This also fixes emails already sitting in inboxes
  • Imports
    • Fixed: a spreadsheet column calculated by a formula, such as a total attendees column, imported as blank or 0. Formula cells now import the value they show in Excel. If you imported a sheet like that recently, it is worth importing it again
  • Printing
    • The Print Queue shows the true number of print jobs and how many have completed (it stopped at 1000 before), and pages through them 250 at a time
  • Inventory & shipping
    • Carnets have a new Lost status, with its own toggle over the carnet list, on by default alongside Active
