Prior work includes serving as state child welfare director in Alabama. From 2017–2021, he led the U.S. Children’s Bureau, Department of Health and Human Services and, for most of that time, was Acting Commissioner, Administration on Children, Youth and Families. ![]() David P. Kelly, JD, MA, is Co-Director of the Family Justice Group For over a decade he served in the United States Children’s Bureau, holding positions as Special Assistant to the Associate Commissioner, Senior Policy Advisor on Courts and Justice and overseeing the Children’s Bureau’s work with the legal and judicial community. Prior to joining the federal government, David was an Assistant Staff Director at the American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law and served as a Senior Assistant Child Advocate in the New Jersey Office of the Child Advocate. David began his career as an attorney at the Youth Advocacy Center of Covenant House New Jersey representing homeless, runaway, and at-risk youth; he later became Director of Legal and Clinical services. ![]() Vincent J. Palusci, M.D., M.S., F.A.A.P. Professor of Pediatrics, New York University School of Medicine Vincent J. Palusci, MD, MS is Professor of Pediatrics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York City. After his pediatric and epidemiology training, he went into private practice and then returned to academic medicine to practice and teach general and child abuse pediatrics. He has developed hospital-based programs to help families develop positive parenting techniques and prevent child maltreatment and has held leadership positions with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Dr. Palusci was a member of the Michigan state child death review team as well as chair of the fatality citizen review panel and local teams. He is currently the editor in chief of the journal Child Maltreatment and board president for Prevent Child Abuse New York. His research and publications have focused on child abuse fatality, medical practice and prevention, and his latest book is Preventing Child Abuse: Critical Roles and Multiple Perspectives from Nova Science Publishers. He has won awards from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Alliance of Children's Trust and Prevention Funds, and the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. 265 millis |
